Bliss Cottage is situated in the Blaauwberg Region, 19 km north of Cape Town. Only 300 m from the front door, you can enjoy the sandy white beaches of the Blaauwberg Coast which arguably offers the most spectacular views of Table Mountain across Table Bay as well as Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela and many other political prisoners were incarcerated.
Within a radius of 1-10 km you’ll find a wide variety of bars, restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas, a very well-equipped Virgin Active gym as well as two links golf courses.
The beachfront is a year-round hotspot for jogging, cycling, roller-blading, and kite-surfing. On nearby Rietvlei nature reserve you can windsurf and water-ski, while the many beaches in the vicinity are a favourite hangout for local surfers. Mountain-biking and hiking are available at Koeberg Nature Reserve where you can spot Springbok, Eland, Zebra, Bontebok, Blesbok, angulated tortoises and even the odd Cape Cobra, to name but a few.
Blaauwberg is also the gateway to the Cape West Coast where the annual flower season in Spring (August to October) remains one of nature’s most magnificent displays of beauty. Between August and November you may even spot whales playing in the bay.
Only 400 m from the front door, you can hop onto the new and frequent My CiTi bus service at the Shell Road feeder station. This means that you can get to and from the airport without a vehicle, enjoy a stress-free ride to the city centre, the Gardens & the V&A Waterfront where a myriad of tourist and sight-seeing opportunities are on offer. Here you can also catch the ever popular City Hop-on, Hop-off double-decker open-top sightseeting bus – the easy, fun way to explore the city and Peninsula’s sights.

Directions from Cape Town International Airport: From Airport, take the N2 motorway towards Cape Town. Exit left at the M5 MILNERTON/ BLACK RIVER PARKWAY turn-off . Keep to the left and follow EXIT signs for N1 heading towards CAPE TOWN. From the N1, take the next exit (to your left) which is the R27 MILNERTON/PAARDENEILAND. Stay on the R27 (MARINE DRIVE/OTTO DU PLESSIS DRIVE) for approximately 10 km. Turn LEFT onto M14 (BLOUBERGSTRAND) at traffic lights adjacent to DOLPHIN BEACH HOTEL (on left). Follow MARINE DRIVE along beachfront for approximately 2 km. Turn RIGHT into SHELL ROAD. At T-junction, turn LEFT into CORAL DRIVE. At end of road (approximately 500 m) you will find SAN MARTINE. BLISS COTTAGE is no 26, the first house on the RIGHT as you enter the complex.
